1. Agreement
By using Civic News Review ("CNR," "we," "us"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use our website, research library, calculators, or membership services.
2. What We Provide
Civic News Review publishes independent retirement research including state rankings, cost-of-living analysis, tax comparisons, healthcare cost reports, Social Security guides, and interactive planning tools. Some content is free; premium reports and features require a paid Civic Research Plus membership.
3. Not Financial Advice
Our research is for informational and educational purposes only. It is not personalized financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. Retirement decisions depend on your individual circumstances. Consult a qualified financial advisor, CPA, or attorney before making relocation, tax, estate, or investment decisions based on our content.
4. Accounts and Membership
You may create an account using email or Google sign-in. Civic Research Plus is a recurring subscription billed through Stripe at the price shown at checkout ($9/month or $79/year). Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled through your account billing portal. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, copy, or redistribute our research for commercial use without permission
- Share premium membership access with non-subscribers
- Attempt to access admin areas or other users' accounts
- Use the site in any way that disrupts service for others
6. Intellectual Property
All research reports, rankings, text, graphics, data compilations, and site design are owned by Civic News Review or our licensors. You may share links to our public pages. You may not reproduce full premium reports, PDFs, or data tables without a valid membership or written permission.
7. Accuracy and Updates
We strive for accuracy using federal and state data sources, but tax rates, Medicare rules, and cost figures change. Reports include publication dates; verify time-sensitive figures before acting. We update research periodically but do not guarantee real-time accuracy.
8. Disclaimers and Liability
THE SITE AND CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CNR IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OUR RESEARCH OR TOOLS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PRIOR THREE MONTHS, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
9. Changes and Termination
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
